Back to School

The kids went back to school, THREE weeks ago...I know, crazy! Hailey went off to First grade and Hunter is off for his last year of elementary school.

Hailey LOVES school, she carries her backback around on weekends, she studies all the time and is keeping a journal. She is sad on Saturday mornings. I don't know where she gets it.

Hunter likes school about as much as any other 5th grader...is it Saturday yet? We had a scare with the system already but it seems theyre ready to handle his IEP and help him function socially, so that will be great. He is such a bright kid, and how is it his last year of elementary school?!

Three, still a jerk....and a half cut.

HI, its me Owen....you may remember me from a blog post my mom wrote a few days ago...well I am back with another tale!

Today, my dad told my mom to take me for a haircut, so she did. I thought hair cuts were fun, but after 160 seconds I was ready to play, so I got up to leave and the lady wouldn't let me!
I did what any normal kid my age would do, I panicked. I went into plank mode. My mom picked me up and put on a funny cape and tried to hold me so the lady could cut my hair, well I didn't want that either. I got so mad and frustrated and threw my BEST tantrum and guess what! The manager asked us to leave! Lucky me!!! I didn't need to finish my hair cut. Too bad my mom still had to pay for my half cut, oh well. She still loves me and I had a great thought process while in time out today.

See you next time!

Three is a jerk.

Owen, Today I asked you what you wanted for lunch, rookie mistake. You handed me a box of mac and cheese, I cooked, and gave you a bowl. You gave it one look of disgust and said "banana!" I'm sorry you cant have a banana right now, eat your lunch and ill give you a banana. Cue screaming tantrum.
Now you're in bed, hopefully taking a nap. (update 10 minutes later, not napping....mad at polar express for being on the wrong part)
Yesterday at a water park, you scaled a wall and stood on top like a mighty bird,  during the 3 seconds I had to pay and handed the clerk my card. Boy did you scare the crap out of the lady behind me, she found it necessary to curse at me and question my skills as a mother. Awesome.

A few days before this, it was snack time and you wanted a banana....I peeled it and noticed the bottom half was black so I cut the bad part off and handed it to you. You gave me a look of "what is your problem!?' and screamed "banana, fix it!" you wanted it put back together, because who in their right mind eats a cut in half banana?

Then there was that one time when you wanted your shoes on, so we put them on and then you were so mad at me for listening to you. You took them off, then got mad that they were off.

There was also a time I said you were my third time is the charm kid. So happy, sweet, caring, adventurous....

Then you turned three and all bets were off.

I know playing at the park is super hard.

like the time I made you chocolate milk, and used the blue spoon instead of the pink spoon to stir in the milk. So you promptly threw your cup across the room.

You are a great kid, until your idea doesn't fly with the rules of safety, or mom and dad.

As long as we go where you want to go at the time you want to go, you are fantastic!
but remember that time you wanted some Goldfish crackers, so you decided to climb the pantry shelves? Luckily we saved you.
and remember that other time at the zoo where you desperately wanted to see the giraffes, so we went and then you screamed elephant!!!!
or that 1000th time where you decided to fall asleep at 8pm and make us celebrate until you woke up at 11 and partied til 3 am?
until then, keep laying down in protest in public places....and we will continue to document these days

I  know you can't talk, I know you have all these brilliant ideas but no execution.
I know your 4th birthday will be the biggest party we've EVER thrown you, for a year of survival and celebration.
I love you kid, but holy crap.....eat the banana!

Three is a real jerk.

It was a lovely beautiful and amazing day.

Rocky Mountain National Park....I've heard good things about you. The first time I went it was a fall day and boy did it snow...ruined plans, didn't even know you could see fourteeners!
So on the drive in yesterday when I saw these huge storm clouds looming I thought our day would be ruined...but it wasn't.

I have always loved Moose. A few years ago I heard Moose had moved to Colorado and it became my ultimate mission to find one. Alas, its is very difficult to find a moose! I was even in Maine in January and kept my eyes peeled and I didn't see a moose, I was very sad. On our 2013 summer list one of our items was "see a moose in Estes Park." Everyone said it would be difficult if not impossible, you have to be in the right place at the right time.....and then we were

We were driving around RMNP and saw a sign for Bear lake, we decided to go there. We drove and followed the signs and for what seemed like quite awhile later we were still not there. Then I passed a sign that said "Sprague lake" change of plans, I turned around and took the road for Sprague. As I am pulling into the area I glance out at the glimpse of the lake I can see and GASP. I gasped so loudly I freaked out my husband....RUSS, A MOOSE! I THINK I SAW A MOOSE! and then we all flew out of the car and low and behold, there she was....my beautiful miracle I can't believe I've found you moose.

and even better? She had a baby :)

After our amazing RMNP visit we drove over to my brothers, and the cousins played and had a great time,

A perfect day!
